Details of an Empire Chair 

Once Napoleon had won the revolution 1789, a new masculine style was implemented. Light colors of the Gustavian period transformed into dark mahogany and floral decor was exchanged to warlike symbols preferably gilded to create contrast. Charles Percier and Pierre Fontaine were the architects responsible for developing the style after studying the style in Italy during the en of 18th century.
